Art + Extended Media

I don’t think we should take ourselves–or each other–too seriously. Good, bad, weird: these three categories are what helps me make sense of what I feel and experience. I am fascinated by other people, from their actions to the different qualities they have. The stranger things are, the more interested I am. I use humor and what I see in other people and myself as an outlet for the things I’m really focused on saying, putting what I observe into photographs or illustrations. Applying a layer of humor to the fear of vulnerability, love or how I see myself is the most important part of what I make. I believe the best way to address something if it’s too scary (or awkward) to face head-on is to laugh at it. In a way, my process is like asking: how many jokes can I make about this thing that’s keeping me up at night?
