NCDIQ Qualification

Our graduates are prepared for entry level positions in the field of interior design. After the appropriate number of work hours, interior designers can take the NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) exam. You can learn more about the NCIDQ exam here.

Professional Development

The Interior + Spatial Design program provides students with a variety of design-related educational opportunities outside the studio as well. We offer trips to various showrooms, professional CEU events, and invite professionals to participate in our monthly "Lunch & Learn." These are wonderful networking opportunities as and window into their future careers.

Interior + Spatial Design Club

The Interior + Spatial Design (ISD) Club provides an opportunity for students to connect with one another outside of the design studio. Part of Sage's student government, the ISD Club organizes trips to museums, visits design firms, and does volunteer work among other activities. Students become members of professional organizations such as, IIDA, ASID, NKBA.

Professional Affiliations

The ISD program is associated with chapters of ASID, IIDA, and NKBA. We also participate in New York Eleven Plus (NY11+), a collaboration of prestigious New York State educational institutions offering four-year programs in interior design. Each year the exhibition showcases student projects and accomplishments at various industry partner showrooms in New York City.

Designed for students planning to pursue a professional career in Interior Design, our NASAD accredited program aspires to excellence in teaching and instruction understanding the rigors of an ever-changing industry. We offer our students the highest standards of academic quality in interior design education allowing them to launch a successful and rewarding career leading to NCIDQ certification.

This program focuses on studying the relationships between people and their environments, emphasizing a three-dimensional architecture-based approach to examine, understand, and design humane, ecologically sensitive solutions for various types of spaces. Individual attention, small class sizes, and collaboration are fundamentals within the program.

Students develop skills in designing, creating, and conceptualizing spatial situations. Skills in 2D, 3D, and 4D design, prepare students to design complex architectural spaces and sensory environments.

Each student develops their own individual approach to visualization and design problem-solving. Each level of the student’s education engages knowledge and skills in discovery and resolution, critical and imaginative thinking, verbal and visual communication. Through hands-on studio-based learning and experimentation, students will be exposed to emergent technologies, and a range of graphic and computer skills allowing for a wide range of career options and opportunities.
