Rather than speaking, I communicate deep thoughts and feelings by flaunting flashy imagery, sparkles, and stacks of jewelry. Through visual realism and conversations between photography and drawing, the boundary between girlhood and womanhood unravels in my work. It’s about hiding in plain sight and making a conscious decision to beautify insecurity. In doing so, vulnerability is transformed into something ornamental, delicate, and quietly powerful.
Growing into a Woman
2026
88 x 17″
Charcoal, colored pencil, acrylic paint, fabric, rhinestones, glitter glue, and glitter on paper
Flashy jewelry, a funky pattern, maybe a shiny belt; they all draw attention to you. Don’t let anyone see the beat-up leather or the stain on your jeans and definitely don’t really show them your skin. Stay true to yourself but stay on brand for the positive things people see about you. Wear something that flatters you and throw on some makeup so you can sit and wonder if you’ve become such a superficial person or if you’re just becoming a woman.

Plastic banana ladies are supposed to be the standard!?
How can I compete with that?
