Sometimes the only way to cope is to make fun of the stuff that makes you miserable.
Hi I’m Abner, and I make art to help others learn how to cope in times of oppression and emotional turmoil. In times when the world feels chaotic and out of our control, I believe we all deserve some form of comfort and autonomy. My work uses symbolism and clashing visual elements to reflect the emotional depth of our inner struggles. Drawing from the relationship between history and the present, I confront external oppression while also exploring themes of identity and reconnection to what has been lost. As a child raised in a strict Evangelical Pentacostal environment, art became my shield against religious trauma. I hope that my art can be a shield for you, too.

The monsters fill the air like a tangled web of gasses ready to grab me by the neck and siphon my joy, am I to blame for trying to avoid the plague of corruption, or has it already gotten to me.

Why bother caring for someone who doesn’t really see you as a person, let alone someone who doesn’t even want you to exist.
