Living Green
My capstone project is to display a new way of building residential homes in the 21st century. I found turning every home sustainable and eco-friendly interesting because first and foremost I love residential design. I love how the personal feel of a home can affect a person's mental well-being. I want every home I design to be specifically unique to the homeowner and attend to their everyday needs. Most importantly I found this project to be interesting because sustainability in residential design should be a standard practice in design and construction for the 21st century. Most homes today are still built from the standards of the 19th and 20th centuries. With all the newly developed technology, why are they not being applied in today's constructions and standard of living in the 21st century? Millennials have been taught and brought up in an eco-conscious society and they are fully aware of their effect on the environment and are more likely to choose living spaces that meet sustainable practices. There are a lot of green homes but not a lot that are built underground. This will allow for the overall well-being of individuals and families to flourish.
