On March 1st, the Alternative Photographic Processes course participated in a workshop at R&F Encaustic Paints in Kingston, New York. Here the students explored the ancient art of encaustic painting in a contemporary context applying these techniques to their photographic imagery.

Workshop instructor Cynthia Winika, a well known artist whose painting have been exhibited world wide, shared some of her techniques with the class. The initial aim of R&F workshops is to introduce artists to fundamental encaustic painting techniques, while demystifying the process for the artist and educating and providing the most up-to-date technical information.
